Are there any waiting periods?
There are no waiting periods on the in and out of hospital options from day one. However, certain rules apply to individuals and small groups regarding underwriting criteria - a member may have exclusions placed on him/her or one of his dependants on the Fund.
Are there any levies?
No levies or co-payments are applicable when a member visits a doctor charging medical aid tariffs. However he can expect to pay a levy of 20% on 'ethical' medicine at a dispensing service provider. If a member requires 'generic' medication there will be no levy.
Does the fund cover self medication?
Members may also obtain medication from a pharmacy without doctors prescription. Such medicines accounts must be settled directly by the member and claimed from Prosperity Health. These claims submitted must accompany a certified (original) script from your pharmacist, specifying your name, dosage and the net amount payable in respect of the medicine.
How do I know that my account has been paid?
You will receive a claims transaction statement reflection the full details of how your accounts has been paid and processed. Also once your account has been paid a SMS stating the amount that was paid, the date and the person to whom the account was paid, will be sent to you.
Can my special dependants join the Fund?
The rules exclude special dependants, however special written application to the Board of Trustees will be considered. |
